Andrew Esiebo’s artistic journey began in Lagos, Nigeria, where he was born in 1978—a city pulsating with vibrant culture and grappling with rapid urbanization. From a young age, fueled by a gift from his friend Jose Maria – a camera – Esiebo embarked on a self-taught exploration of photography, documenting the transformative changes unfolding across Nigeria’s landscape. Furthermore, assisting his uncle, Esiebo Joseph, in mastering the craft of black and white printing honed his technical skills and deepened his understanding of visual storytelling—a foundation that would underpin his subsequent endeavors. Notably, Esiebo’s participation in “My Eye, My World,” a collaborative workshop empowering marginalized children in Nigeria, underscored his commitment to social responsibility and artistic outreach.
