Bozhkov’s formative years in rural Bulgaria undoubtedly instilled within him a deep appreciation for folklore, mythology, and the vibrant beauty of his surroundings. While studying at the Academy, he absorbed traditional techniques but quickly began to diverge from conventional approaches. He wasn't content with simply *representing* reality; instead, he sought to unveil hidden realities—the inner landscapes of the human psyche and the secret lives of objects. This early exploration led him to experiment with various mediums, including drawing, book design, and color lithography, before ultimately focusing on painting as his primary mode of expression.
Central to Bozhkov’s oeuvre is a captivating style characterized by its rich symbolism and vibrant palette. Bozhkov’s paintings are held in prestigious collections worldwide, including the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., the Art Museum in Portland, Oregon, and the National Library in Paris.
