Much of her early inspiration was drawn from the rugged, untamed beauty of Alaska, where her fascination with the wilderness first took root. The vastness and the subtle shifts in light found in the Alaskan frontier became the foundational vocabulary for her creative expression, establishing a lifelong dialogue between the artist and her environment.
For over two decades, Warkentin mastered the delicate art of quilting, utilizing acrylic-painted silk to weave complex narratives into fabric. Settling into a studio within the attic of an old farmhouse in western Maine, she embraced the quiet rhythms of rural life as a catalyst for this new chapter. The spark that ignited her painting career was a well-received early portrait, an event that redirected her focus toward the human element alongside her beloved landscapes.
