He embarked upon his journalistic journey in 1938, securing positions at prominent Brazilian publications like *O Cruzeiro* and *A Cigarra*. Immediately recognized for his distinctive ironic humor, millôr cultivated a prolific output of satirical aphorisms that captured the spirit of the era.
In 1956, he achieved considerable acclaim at the Buenos Aires International Caricature Exhibition, sharing the first prize with Saul Steinberg. This recognition underscored his mastery of visual satire and cemented his reputation as one of Brazil’s foremost cartoonists.
