In the twilight of the Middle Ages, as the spiritual intensity of the Gothic era began to meet the burgeoning curiosity of the early Renaissance, there emerged a painter whose brush captured the very essence of the Duchy of Savoy. Giacomo Jaquerio, born around 1375 in the historic city of Turin, was not merely an observer of his time but a primary architect of its visual identity. Raised within a lineage of artisans, with a father who shared the vocation, Jaquerio’s early life was defined by a rhythmic movement across the landscapes of Piedmont, Geneva, and the French territories of Savoy.
