In this pen and ink drawing, Muzaffar al-Din Shah (r. 1896–1907) and his attendant are shown kicking two servants on the floor. The bright but sparing use of color – only in the figures’ faces and headdress – brings attention to their garish features and exorbitant lifestyle based on material wealth and gluttony.
