Jan Cox (August 27, 1919 – October 7, 1980) was a Dutch-Belgian painter whose artistic journey spanned decades, marked by profound introspection and an unwavering dedication to capturing the raw essence of human experience. Born in The Hague, he emerged as a pivotal figure within the burgeoning ‘Jeune Peinture Belge’ group in 1945—a collective striving to redefine Belgian art after the devastation of World War II.
