Mohammed Khadda, un pintor, escultor y escritor argelino, nació en 1930 en Djebel Djellal, Argelia, y falleció en 1991. Es ampliamente considerado uno de los fundadores de la pintura contemporánea argelina y una figura clave del movimiento de los “pintores de signos”.
El viaje artístico de Khadda comenzó en 1960, profundamente influenciado por dos fuerzas aparentemente dispares pero poderosamente combinadas: Cubismo y la caligrafía árabe. Esta combinación única lo impulsó a explorar formas de arte no figurativas y abstractas, sentando las bases para su estilo distintivo.
La obra de Khadda encarna a una generación de artistas argelinos que buscaban reconciliar su herencia cultural con los lenguajes artísticos modernos.
