As the son of the renowned sculptor George Washington Lambert and the brother of the legendary composer Constant Lambert, his early life was an intersection of visual and auditory mastery. His formative training, beginning with a rigorous apprenticeship under Francis Derwent Wood, instilled in him a technical precision that allowed him to contribute to significant works, such as the Machine Gun Corps Memorial, even before his name was established in the galleries of London.

As Lambert matured, his artistic vision expanded far beyond the boundaries of traditional sculpture. His involvement with the Seven and Five Society and the London Group placed him at the heart of the modernist movement, where he began to explore the expressive potential of diverse and often unexpected materials.
